The Purple COW factor

Seth Godin has written a book called ‘Purple Cow’. It’s based on his families experience of driving through the countryside of France and seeing cow after cow grazing on the fields of grass…boring! What he proposed to himself was what if there was a purple cow? Now, that would be remarkable…(for a little while)!

The essence of the purple cow is that it must be remarkable. You see, something remarkable is worth gossiping about, worth noticing, worth paying attention to. Boring is invisible and brown cows are boring.

Remarkable marketing is the art of building into your product the IT factor. That exceptional factor that sets you apart and causes you to be noticed instead of being ignored. Choose to be remarkable by taking risks (safe is risky), design creatively and remember very good isn’t exceptional it’s boring.
