Mission Possible!

Aussie Culture

We have just started a new series at Activate called ‘Mission Possible’. We will be exploring over the next 6 weeks the mission of the Church to go and preach the gospel to all creation and to go and make disciples of all nations.

I hear some people comment that Australia is a harder mission field than other places like America, which has a more overt Christian culture than what we do here in Australia. There may be some truth to this but the reality is the gospel is the same wherever it is preached. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is the same Spirit that lives in your heart. The same gospel that healed the lame beggar at the Gate Beautiful is the same gospel we proclaim and possess today.

Paul said in Romans 1:16 “I am not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes.” It’s easy in our cynical culture to think, “It’s too hard and the need is too big and the mission is impossible” but be encouraged by the truth that you are not in control of God’s sovereign plan for humanity but God is and Jesus said, “I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” (Mt 16:18)

The mission is possible and Jesus is still the King of kings and Lord of lords and he is sovereign over all the affairs of mankind. Man plans his way but God orders his steps. Don’t let your faith be directed by your circumstances or the opinions of man. Keep believing and keep on being faithful with what God has entrusted into your hands.
