5 important questions to ask

I have just finished reading an extraordinary yet simple book by Peter Drucker called, “The 5 most important questions you will ever ask about your organisation”. Peter Drucker is the father of modern management ideas as it is embraced the world over today. Here are the 5 questions:

 1.  What is our mission? This question is about discovering what you exist for, why you do what you do and what do you want to be remembered for?

   2.  Who is our customer? Who represents the primary target group, the people whose lives are changed through the organisations work?

   3.  What does the customer value? What specific need does the organisation provide satisfaction for that individuals value about it?

   4.  What are our results? How do you define what the results are that matters? What is the most important result of your organisation?

   5.  What is our plan? What are the fundamental goals (no more than 5) that will help us achieve the desired results and what are the measurable action steps that will enable you to achieve our objectives?
