Breaking outside of the NORM!

In John 6:5-7 it says, “Lifting up his eyes and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip, “Where are we to but bread, so that these people may eat?” He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do. Philip answered him, “Two hundred denari would not buy enough bread for each of them to get a little.”

Jesus was testing Philip to see where his thinking and faith was at. Philip looked at the size of the crowd and his lack of resources rather than at the size of God. Philip thought it impossible to feed over 5,000 people. Jesus wanted to use Philip in an extraordinary way outside of the norm but Philip couldn’t conceive how?

I believe that God wants to use us far more out of the norm than we recognize but we are so used to staying within the norm that we cannot conceive how God could move in such a way through us. Generally, whenever we humans don’t understand something, we retreat away from it but relationship with God often poses to us scenarios that will be outside of the normal box.

As you go into another year, don’t back away from something God puts before you just because you think it’s impossible. That’s where God lives and walking with him will challenge your capacity and your paradigms. You can’t do extraordinary exploits for God if you’re not willing to break outside of the norm. Stretch your thinking and be open to be used of God in new ways.
